Yeah... I am impressed but to make cool stuff like that you would have to play through a game all of the reviewers called a awful minecraft knockoff. Here is a decent review of the game: http://www.youtube.c...?v=nfN-qhoMKnE.

2d is limited in what you can do. That's why I think everyone says its a awful minecraft knockoff. It might be fun for some people but the majority of people stopped playing it within 1-3 weeks of buying it.

Here's my opinion:
I haven't played minecraft, so I can't be fully objective. That being said, I find Terraria to be an awesome game, and whoever says it's a lame minecraft knockoff can suck a POG.
I will admit and agree that the game IS limited in the things you can do now, yes - after you play for a good FEW DOZEN HOURS; so WEEKS AND WEEKS of replay value 'may not' be there - but they have updates, just like in tf2, adding content (YES, HATS IN THERE TOO!). There is still a S*** TON of stuff to do in the game, don't get me wrong. I've played 114 hours of it so far, and still think very highly of Terraria - I won't play it every day, but still.
Here's a link to one of the first terraria news stories - would a 'lame knockoff' sell 200K copies first week?: http://kotaku.com/58...es-in-nine-days
People see it being in 2D as being limited, but I see it as THEY are the ones who are limited..... in their imagination :)
So I'll stick up for my Terraria. It's a fun game, and I've read more than once how people shouldn't just dismiss it as 'just a knockoff'. Whatever, you decide.
Fun game; Cheap; Well worth it - My 2 cents.

The clan has an account that you can use for a day Blakie to check it out and see if you want to buy it.

Terraria and Minecraft... Move up and into the space age. X3 is where the real building action is.

Thanks Tex (but I know that already :p). I don't want to get into that because I know I'll get addicted to it, and I don't have any where near as much time as I used to :)

The way I see it is Minecraft is a lot better for building stuff and playing with friends. Terraria is pretty awful for building things because of the way light works (if you DO decide to sculpt in Terraria, you need to put torches every few meters inside of the construction or the inside will be obscured by darkness) and because everything exists in a two-dimensional Cartesian grid (meaning that Terraria art is more like an MS paint drawing than a sculpture). Combat in Minecraft -sucks-, but it works in Terraria because it's an arcade-style game specifically designed to focus more on combat (the goal in Terraria is to upgrade your weapons and armor to beat four bosses to clear a world). There's also a lot more equipment and magic in Terraria that Minecraft leaves out. That said, I always have more fun playing Minecraft with friends or Terraria alone. They're VERY different games and it's wrong to compare them just because you can dig in both of them. Lol

Big big update to our favorite mining+combat game OF ALL TIME! ;)
http://store.steampo....com/news/6025/
They recommended that you create a new char, and start a new map. I did that, and it's been rewarding so far. Of course you still can take your prev chars to a new world, and beat the hell outta everything :)

So I played our favorite mining+combat game of ALL TIME with Ag today; just as expected, when he got some help with understanding how the game works, he started to really like it, and quickly too. Like I always say, TERRARIA IS AWESOME! But people just need to understand it a little more, before they judge it.
[FeC] Erebus977 actually asked me if FeC has a Terraria server, and I said no, but we would sure love one! It really is a great game that we can enjoy together. Just ask Ag :)
Anyone else would like if we had a terraria server? Unsteady? Bunny? I know Horas and Erebus would, as would I.

I can think about making one, but do we really have enough players to have interest in it? What's the benefits for running a server dedicated on our box compared to hosting one yourself?
Since terraria is a resource hog, I need to know all the players that are interested and how many of those players help pay for our servers. This information allows me to allocate resources that subscribers/donators pay for. Minecraft has over 10 donators paying for benefits and to keep it running along with having a section leader (Azorius).
If we get enough interest in this game then I'll for sure build us a server. Just keep me posted blak.
Terraria takes at least 882mb ram without any players in it, not sure if it requires more when players connect but we can monitor that depending on player needs.
I need for resource use including CPU/ram and I/O usage on the hard drive but most of this we can get from running a test server.

Cool, thanks for that. Will try to round up dem folks to see who's interested.
To errbody else: If you see this and you're interested in having a clan [FeC] Terraria multiplayer server, then please post it in this thread, thanks. We can build big farms, mine, fight bosses, build big structures, and generally screw around together!
